The Mississippi Attorney General has clarified that all products derived from cannabis and not FDA-approved, are illegal to buy unless purchased in accordance with the Medical Cannabis Act.
CBD, Marijuana, and THC are all on Mississippi's Schedule I controlled substances list that include all parts of the cannabis plant including every compound, mixture, or derivative. It says "Marijuana is defined as all parts of the genus Cannabis..." which includes CBD. All CBD comes from the cannabis plant.
This means that CBD products in pharmacies, health stores, and at hundreds of retailers are illegal to sell because they are derived from the cannabis plant and not FDA-approved. The FDA does not approve any CBD products except a few available only by prescription.
This also clarified that the "0.3% THC limit" only applies to the commercial cultivation of cannabis (hemp) and has no bearing on whether the product is legal for human consumption. Product testing is no longer needed. The "0.3%" debate is no longer valid and all that matters is if the product came from cannabis.
CBD is now on Mississippi's Schedule I controlled substances list along with hemp shampoo.
Other substances equally as illegal to sell in Mississippi as CBD include heroin, fentanyl, LSD, and meth.
