Real Life Experience of Cannabis Treatment in Autism

CBD for Adult Patients with Drug-Resistant Epilepsy 

Study in adults with drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) using CBD-enriched oil showed that a subset of patients achieved meaningful seizure reduction.


The Effect of CBD on Seizure Features and Quality of Life 

Randomized controlled trial in patients with epilepsy comparing CBD vs placebo for 8 weeks. CBD group had a mean reduction in seizure frequency (~45.6 seizures vs ~9 in placebo) at 8 weeks and improved quality of life. 


The Efficacy and Safety of CBD in Pediatric Patients with Epilepsy 

CBD treatment in children with major motor seizures led to a 50% reduction in median monthly major motor seizures and 44% reduction in total seizures after 12 weeks.


Is a Low Dosage of Medical Cannabis Effective for Treating Fibromyalgia? 

In a cohort of FM patients, pain intensity dropped from a median of 8/10 at baseline to 4/10 after six months of low-dose medical cannabis. Quality of life measures  also improved.


Effectiveness and Safety of Cannabis-based Products for Fibromyalgia 

Real-world observational data suggest that medical cannabis use in fibromyalgia is generally safe and associated with symptom improvement (pain relief, reduced medication use, improved sleep).

Review of 9 studies. Concluded that medical cannabis shows a “significant clinical response” for many patients by reducing length and frequency of migraines; no serious adverse events were reported.


Alleviative Effects of Cannabis Flower on Migraine and Headache 

People using cannabis flower for migraine/headache reported an average reduction of 3.3 points on a 0–10 pain scale at 2 hours. In some, monthly migraine frequency dropped from 10.4 to 4.6 attacks. 


Cannabinoids for Spasticity in Patients with MS

Nabiximols (THC:CBD oromucosal spray) is the most studied agent and produces a modest but statistically significant reduction in spasticity versus placebo.


Evaluating Vaporized Cannabinoid Therapy in Multiple Sclerosis

Six-month study of 69 MS patients using CBD 13% / THC 9%. Reported reduced muscle spasticity, improved bladder function, and slowing of disability progression.


Cannabinoids for the Treatment of Neuropathic Pain 

This review identified 17 trials for neuropathic pain. Ten trials using THC-alone formulations showed the strongest evidence; four using THC/CBD combinations showed some benefit; CBD alone did not show significant effect.

Reviewed 14 RCTs of cannabinoids in peripheral neuropathy. Found that 13 of the 14 observed statistically significant decreases in neuropathic pain scores vs baseline.

Cannabis for Treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Comorbid Depression

In a UK registry of patients seeking cannabis-based medicinal products for PTSD after 3 months of treatment there were substantial reductions in PTSD symptom severity.

Medicinal Cannabis Improves Sleep in Adults with Insomnia
Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial in 29 adults with chronic insomnia. Two weeks of active treatment significantly improved total sleep time and sleep quality.


CBN and CBD on Sleep Quality
293 adults with “poor” or “very poor” sleep were randomized for 7 nights. The 20 mg CBN group had significantly fewer nighttime awakenings and reduced overall sleep disturbance vs placebo


THC, CBD and CBN for Sleep Disturbance, Anxiety and Stress
Randomized trial in healthy adults  with sleep disturbance. A blend with low concentrations of THC plus CBD and CBN significantly improved sleep disturbance, anxiety, stress and overall well-being.  


Cannabidiol in the Management of Insomnia
Systematic review of 34 studies in people with insomnia or sleep complaints. Many reports showed improved sleep onset, maintenance, or overall sleep satisfaction

CBD gel three times daily for 4 weeks led to significant reductions in self-reported pain and improvements in grip strength and certain quality-of-life measures.


Cannabidiol as a Treatment for Arthritis and Joint Pain 

Survey of 428 people with arthritis who used CBD. 83% reported improvements in pain; 66% in physical function; 66% in sleep quality. Osteoarthritis group showed greater pain reduction than rheumatoid.  


Cannabis for Secondary Prevention of Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting 

In a trial of 147 evaluable adult cancer patients receiving highly emetogenic chemotherapy, an add-on oral THC:CBD extract improved the complete response rate. 


Cannabinoids for the Prevention of Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting  

Systematic review of 32 studies of cannabinoid-based therapies for chemo-induced nausea/vomiting. Of the 22 studies, 12 found significant benefit; of nine placebo-controlled, eight found benefit.  


Cannabis for Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting 

This summary reviews older and recent RCTs of synthetic cannabinoids and cannabis extracts in CINV. It explains that cannabinoids are approved for anti-emetic use when standard therapy fails.
